To ensure correct reproduction of your files we recommend the following items are taken into consideration when preparing your files.

  • All colours to be set to Process CMYK
  • All images to be
   - 300DPI for scans/digital pics
    - 1200DPI for linework
    - Supplied as CMYK – not RGB
  • Images to be placed in layout application at 100% - not scaled down/up as this can lead to distortion
  • Bleed to minimum of 3mm (5mm if possible)
  • Fonts to be embedded
  • Text below 8 point should not be made up of more than 2 colours (or reversed out of more than 2 colours) especially important when dealing with serif based fonts
  • Resupplied pages should have file named ammeded with _R

Example
  1. Original file = page1.pdf
  2. Resupply 1 =  page1_R.pdf
  3. Resupply 2 =  page1_R1.pdf
  4. Resupply 3 = page1_R2.pdf etc
  • Avoid non standard based characters (or spaces) in file names (~!@#$%^&*() etc)
  • Live type to be 5mm from trimmed edges

  • Where solid black areas are used color to be built from 15% Cyan 15% Magenta 15% Yellow 100% Black - producing 'Rich Black'

Digital Proofs

AIW recommends the use of an international standard regarding production of digital proofs (ISO 12647-2). This standard allows the ‘common line in the sand’ when it comes to proof production. While AIW recognizes there are many standards currently used in Australian Print Production we have chosen a global platform - ISO 12647-2.

For creation of proofs AIW recommends the following profiles for download based on the stock your job will be printed on While best efforts will be made to match proofs supplied that have been proofed to standards other than the ISO based recommendation, AIW cannot be responsible for inaccurate reproduction of these files/pages.
